Linear Low-Density Polyethylene
Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) emerges as the latest addition to the polyethylene family. It is a copolymer created through the polymerization of ethylene with various alpha olefins, with 1-butene and 1-hexene being the most common. The resulting linear structure enhances the mechanical performance of films compared to those fashioned from traditional LDPE materials.
- Versatile and cost-effective
- Lower seal initiation temperature balanced with mechanical properties
- Can reduce costs in high-performance film structures
Frequently processed either independently or in combination with LDPE and HDPE, this adaptable and economical product finds utility across a broad spectrum of flexible film applications, employing both blown and cast film extrusion methods to provide an optimal equilibrium of toughness and stiffness.
LLDPE proves versatile in various applications, including performance films, bags, wraps, agricultural films, pond liners, and membranes. In rigid contexts, it serves in the production of toys, lids, caps, closures, as well as irrigation pipes and rotationally molded tanks.
